Hacettepe University Faculty of Engineering was established in 1968 under the name of Faculty of Science and Engineering and was divided into two faculties as Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Science on 23.08.1971. The Faculty, which initially had Physics, Geology and Mining Engineering Departments, later included the Electrical&Electronics, Computer, Food and Nuclear Energy Engineering Departments and Hydrogeological Engineering Program, and in 1983, the Chemical Engineering Department that was previously in the Faculty of Chemistry. In 2004 Industrial Engineering and in 2005 Mechanical Engineering Automotive Engineering Undergraduate Programs were established. Undergraduate education in Geomatics Engineering Department has started in 2013, and in Environmental Engineering and Civil Engineering Departments in 2014-2015 academic year. As of 2018-2019 academic year, student admission to the Automotive Engineering Program has been stopped, and student admission to the Mechanical Engineering Program has started.

Hacettepe University Faculty of Engineering continues its academic studies in 13 departments. The establishment dates of the departments and programs within the faculty and the start dates of the undergraduate programs are given in Table 1. In all our departments, in addition to undergraduate programs, there are also Master's and Doctorate Programs.
